Lighting, Shot Types & Effects

Lighting

When filming our Media Production we will use natural lighting as we are filming during the day in a central city location. The indoor shots will be lighted by the normal lighting of the room as we do not own any lighting equipment so we will have to make sure the lighting fits in relatively well with the outdoor shots. The outdoor shots in the alleyways and tunnels will also have to be considered as we may have to use the light from the camera or from mobile phones, but it will have to blend in with the indoor shots or else the lighting will not be fitting.

Shot Types

When filimg our Media Production we will need a consistant range of shots, due to keeping our audince entertained and not wanting our production to become boring. There must be a wide variety of shots used but the main shots used will be mid shots or long shots to show everything that is within the picture. We may also incorporate some zooming in shots, panning shots just to create more exciting shots.

Effects

The effects when plan to use when editing our production are stop motion, slow motion and use various effects using final cut express and iMovie. We will also use Green Screen when filming and add in typography if we have less footage than expected. The stop motion will help to decrease the chance of boredom and leave the audience feeling taken back but while require an immense amount of planning. An appropriate background that links into the genre will also be effective.
For the slow motion we could take clips, then stop them, then continue to emphasize the paused shot. We could also increase the speed of shots of the train relating to the lyrics "Wherever We Go" or speed up shots of the riverbank where some of our shots will be taken.
We are also planning to use 'Green Screen' which well be beneficial as we cannot take shots of various landmarks so this will help us to easily incorporate our lyrics with our video. We can also use backgrounds of graffiti to add an urban effect to our production.
